Professional paintball players know that paintball can be broken down into a few key actions. Breaking paintball into separate actions is the first step to becoming an excellent paintball player. The next step of course is practicing them till it hurts, or more importantly, until each action becomes instinctual.

There are about 4 key parts to this incredible sport. Practice them and you will play on a whole new level.

Mindset and mental preparation – With the right frame of mind you can become a force to be reckoned with. Just ask any fighter how important it is, they’ll tell you that in combat it pays to stay cool and collected. Paintball is similar because it is a combat game, and in the heat of battle mindset matters.

Shooting off the break – The break is a pivotal moment, anything can happen, and if you practice this essential moment you may find your team knocking half of the opposing teams players. It’s a game changing moment, so practice it.

Snap shooting – When you become the center of attention, and someone puts a target on your bunker, its important to know when and how to snap shoot. The faster the better, after all, the longer you are a target the better the chance you’ll get shot.

Shooting on the move – When the time is perfect and an opportunity presents itself for advancement against an opposing player, it helps to be able to hit what you are shooting at. If you can keep your enemy behind his bunker while you make your move you carry an advantage. Not only are they forced into their bunker, but they cannot see where you are moving or better yet, shoot at you.

These are just 4 important parts of paintball. Of course running, sliding, timing, and communicating with your teammates are also important, but when it comes to becoming a better player yourself, the above 4 are essential to practice.
