Paintball Players Test Military Strategy
Throughout Canada the seriousness of a game of strategy is being played in the great outdoors. Being able to use military tactics to outmaneuver an opponent and defeat an opposing force many people are taking up the sport and hobby of playing paintball. Montreal is one city that shares in the growing fascination of the competitive sport. Taking the rugged outdoors in an all out approach to defend and attack certain positions on the field of battle teams of paintball players are pitted against one another in matched skill. For anyone that has been interested in participating in the simulated ground warfare games there are levels for everyone that has a disposition for being on the attack.
Using replicas of machine guns and pistols to propel the small balls of paint toward a target many serious players have their own equipment and compete in tournaments to decide who is the best player and team on the field. Out in the open countryside of Montreal there is a place where teams meet to combat one another in a matchup that mimics the board game of Risk. Following strategies and battle plans players are assigned an area to protect and then do what they can to capture other strategic areas of the field. Taking hours to play through a game teams are left to the last man standing and victory for the stealthy and cunning players that incorporate flanking maneuvers and charges in the realistic battlefront conditions of the gaming arena. Using weapons that can fire as many as 30 balls of paint per second, serious players invest in their training and equipment to emerge as the best of the best.
