Paintball realises our childish dreams about playing “the war”. The best advantage is that we do not pretend that we shoot, but we really act and take part in this event. Aims and rules may be different. One common feature is that paintball uses weapon called “marker” with gel paint balls.

The most popular form of paintball is one, in which sole aim is to prize the enemy flag. Players are divided for two teams. Each one puts its flag in one chosen place – the base. Goal of the game is to take the opponent’s one and bring it to our base.

How to start?

First of all – you need to be adult (if you are not, need parents permission for playing). The best place for paintball is forest or special playing resort. Obviously it should be empty space, far away from city and crowds. Equipment for game you can pot in 3 ways:

- Borrowing from your friend who plays paintball
- Renting in some paintball resort
- Buying your own equipment (the best option, but also expensive).

Safety rules

The most important rules you need to follow while playing paintball are:

- Never take off your mask during the game, when you are in playing area
- After the game always stem the barrel
- Aim and shoot nor to people who are not playing, neither to animals
- Follow the tips of equipment producer
- Make sure that playing area is safe (do accidental people do not have access to it?)

Does it hurt?

That is the first question of every paintball beginner. Getting shot in uncovered skin can be painful, but there is nothing to be scared of. Usually players are so excited that do not even feel the pain. To prevent the pain you can use plastic protectors for neck and corpus. It is common to use also gloves and hats during the game. Also practical and comfortable solution are knee protectors. To avoid stock doves it is good to remember about not sticking the barrel directly to someone’s body.

By: Kamila Kaczmarczyk

About the Author:

There’s a wide selection of paintball markers on sale, so it pays to do your research to make sure you buy one that suits your abilities. Paintball guns range in price from under $200 for a decent entry level gun, such as a Spyder or Tippmann, to over $1000 for a tournament style marker such as an Angel paintgun. If you’ve just discovered the sport of paintballing and want to play regularly, it makes sense to buy your own gun and gear rather than rent it each time you go to games. As well as a marker, all paintballers must wear masks out on the field, and you’ll need to check out equipment like hoppers and air tanks too.

Paintball gun packages can be a cheap way to buy all the supplies you need in one go, but make sure you’re getting value for money. There are some top quality markers available at discount prices, but there are a few tips you should know to help you choose which is the best deal. First of all, decide whether you want a basic pump action gun, a semi auto or a fully automatic. These various types have different rates of fire and work in different ways. Look for a paintball marker that doesn’t need lots of upgrades to improve its performance and that’s easy to keep clean and maintain. Some paintballers like to change barrels and add electronic trigger frames to make their gun shoot faster, but this shouldn’t be necessary if you buy a decent sniper.

When you’re running around during the game dodging your opponents paintballs and grenades, you want a gun that you can depend on. Get info on reliable models by reading reviews in magazines and by speaking to other paintballers. Look for guns with a sturdy construction that aren’t cheaply made, but are light enough to maneuver easily out on the field. A metal body is generally preferable to plastic. Black, camouflage or matte colors won’t make you stand out as much as a brightly colored shiny marker. Check the air supply. A CO2 tank is better than cartridges.

There are some fantastic deals to be found at online paintball stores. All sorts of markers, safety gear and other paintball stuff can be found on the internet at affordable prices. By shopping around you should be able to get the marker you want at a great price.

By: Caroline Smith

About the Author:

Contrary to the belief that paintball is nothing but tough young men playing “war” wearing camouflage in the woods, the popularity of the sport has increased to the point where some nine million Americans have played it. Paintball versions of Capture the Flag, and Elimination have become popular pastimes for every kind of group from church groups to sororities.

Paintball venues have hosted birthday parties and bachelor parties. Corporations have held team building exercises involving paintball. There are paintball clubs and events for almost every age and skill level. Kids as young as 10 can play paintball, and this is due to the sport having strict safety regulations and a good safety record.

But, doesn’t it hurt to be hit by a paintball? The sensation has been likened to being snapped by a rubber band, stung by a bee, or hit with a wet towel. However, the general consensus among paintball enthusiasts is that after getting hit the first time, adrenaline takes over, and the sensation of actually being hit fades into the background.

The most common paintball game is Capture the Flag. While there are variations, the basic object of the game is for one team to capture the opposite team’s flag, while protecting its own flag from being captured. Players are eliminated from the game after being hit by a paintball.

Simple games of elimination are also popular. These games are played until there is only one player still standing. Sometimes there are different rules, such as pretend “medics” who will examine a player who has been hit and decide if he or she is fit to return to the game. Part of the popularity of paintball is that it is not a sport in which success depends on physical size or age.

And while it is possible for the paintball fanatic to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment, for the casual player, $25 to $30 will rent the proper safety and paintball equipment for an afternoon of fast-paced fun. Commercial paintball parks feature different themed fields, such as woods, cityscapes, or replicas of famous battlefields. Such parks usually also feature speedball fields, which are populated with inflatable bunkers. There are even indoor paintball fields, making it an all-weather sport in places lucky enough to have these facilities.

Commercial paintball fields also offer perks such as locker rooms, picnic areas, and concessions. They are required to meet strict insurance regulations and employ referees to ensure the players’ safety. In addition, commercial paintball parks monitor the velocity of paintballs with instruments called chronographs. The velocity of the paintballs depends on the ambient temperature for markers (guns) that use CO2 for propelling paintballs. This problem is less pervasive in indoor, climate-controlled settings.

With improved safety features and an improving public image, paintball has gone from being somewhat of a “fringe” sport to drawing grandparents, kids, and everyone in between. Part of the appeal is the stress relief of firing off a round of paint, and part of it is the strategic and tactical thinking that is involved in the game. Paintball is also a sport where size and youth do not necessarily confer success.

Because teamwork and communication are so important, clubs, church groups, and even corporations have enthusiastically embraced paintball games as a way for people to learn to work together and where everyone contributes. The large and growing popularity of paintball facilities and teams attests to its broad appeal.

By: Alex Ottis

About the Author:

Choosing a paintball gun, or marker as some folks refer to them, can be quite the daunting task if you’re a beginner to the sport of paintball. After all, paintball markers are expensive and they can have a pretty big impact on how well or poorly you play the game of paintball. If you want to avoid the same mistakes many beginning paintballers have made before you read this article to discover some very important tips and questions you should ask yourself prior to buying your first paintball gun.

The best piece of advice I can give you prior to buying your first paintball marker is to play with as many different guns as possible from as many different manufacturers before making your decision. The more experience you have playing with different guns the better suited you will be for making a good decision based on your likes and dislikes.

Another good piece of advice is to seek out the advice and guidance from your fellow paintball enthusiasts. There are several websites and forums specifically for paintball and there are a lot of user reviews of various paintball guns on these sites that could really help you make a more informed purchasing decision. It’s a good idea to seek out reviews online for any paintball guns you may be considering purchasing. Often this is a great way to find out what negatives that specific paintball marker may present or you just may find that you’ve already made a well informed decision and find nothing but positive reviews.

You should also ask yourself the following questions before buying your first paintball gun. Are you looking for a paintball marker that shoots out paintballs as fast as possible? Are you looking for a reliable paintball marker that will last you a long time? Do you want to spend as little as possible but still get a paintball marker that has some punch and power? Answering all of these questions will lead you down the path towards getting a paintball gun that fits what you’re looking for rather then just buying something that looks pretty.

Finally when you’re making your decision to buy your first paintball gun it’s a good idea to create an overall budget for everything you’re going to need to get started. At the very least you’re going to need a good paintball mask that protects your eyes, ears and face and you’re also going to need an air supply for your paintball marker as well as paintballs. This is why beginner paintball packages have become so popular in the paintball industry. It’s a fast, quick and easy way for anyone to get started in the sport.

To summarize, play with as many paintball markers as possible and read as many paintball gun reviews from other paintballers by joining the most popular paintball websites and forums. Do this and really know what kind of paintball marker you’re looking for and you’re sure to be happy with your first paintball gun.

By: Daniel Cruz

About the Author:

If you’re trying to become a better paintball player, then there are a few tips to keep in mind before heading out the next time. Every advantage, no matter how small, will help a player and the team claim victory over their opponents.

Attitude
Go in with a winning mindset. This may be the most important tip. If a player lets the other team intimidate them, they have already taken themselves out of the game. They need to develop the mindset of, “I’m going to win.” Of course, it is impossible to win every single game, but it is far better to be surprised by a loss than amazed by a win.

Playing Field
Try to survey the area. It is important to keep on the move when playing paintball. If the opponent finds it difficult to keep up with someone’s location, they stand a far better chance of winning. If players get the opportunity to check out the playing field beforehand, they should do it. Mentally take some notes of paths and possible cover. This will allow them to employ better strategies and tactics on the fly instead of trying to figure it out while taking fire.

No Ammo
If someone runs out of paintballs, they still have a couple of options. Obviously, if they can get more paintballs from a teammate, they should do it. What if that isn’t a possibility? If the rule is in use, which it frequently is, they can attempt to sneak up on their opponents and make them surrender. It’s an option to keep in mind.

Practice
Players should practice shooting. Shooting a paintball marker is not like shooting a rifle, especially with the popularity of double triggers. Players also need to be able to shoot paintball guns in many different positions that may be completely new to them. The best practice is, of course, in a game. However, if for those willing to spend the extra money on paintballs, it is a good idea to practice shooting in various positions, even when they are not competing.

Take care of paintball markers. This is very important. Paintball guns need to be maintained properly. Lots of new players make the mistake of neglecting proper maintenance. Competitors should always oil their guns before using them, and clean them up afterwards. If someone leaves their gun plastered with paint, it will only decrease the life the gun. They should be sure to remove any obvious obstructions when cleaning the gun barrel. Failure to do this can result in a loss of accuracy, or a paintball could simply break before it leaves the barrel.

With these basic tips in mind, paintballers should be able to step up their game and start dominating the competition.

By: Jeremy P Stanfords

About the Author:
Assessing the playing area before playing on a new field will allow you to find the best shooting areas and escape routes should they be needed.

Keep your equipment clean and in good working order. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a game and having your equipment malfunction due to dirty paint not being cleaned off from a previous game. Make sure you have replacement batteries if your gun requires them.

Wear clothing that blends into your surroundings. There is nothing worse than sticking out like a sore thumb. You will have every player on the opposing team shooting at you. The clothing should not make noise while you move.

Pack extra water and snacks for between games. A dehydrated, hungry player will not perform up to their potential.

Most learning occurs during the game; however reading about the different tactics and games that is being played by others will also help you to improve your game. Online sites, magazines and books are excellent resources in the quest to master the game of paintball.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. No one ever learned anything without making mistakes along the way. After each game review the mistakes that were made and try not to make the same ones again.

As Mary Grace Rodart states in her book titled, Three Most Important Words In Life Are Attitude, the three most important words in life are attitude, attitude, attitude. One will not become a winner until they can visualize themselves as one. So start thinking about yourself as the best player on the field!

Having the best gun and upgrades will also make a big difference in how you play the game. There is a huge difference between having a gun that can shoot 10-12 balls per second to one that can shot 30 plus. If you don’t agree, just wait until you are on the receiving end. You will be rushing to your local paintball store to buy one before your next game.

Becoming an expert paintballer takes practice, practice and more practice. So go have some fun and improve your game skills.

By: Joseph Stutzman

About the Author:

Paintball gun’s are complex pieces of kit, and are made up of lots of different components all working together to produce the end result, which should be fun, unless you have been hit lots of times in that game.

Because they are complex bits of kit, there are a lot of potential problems that can arise if you do not maintain your paintball marker well. So the tips below if put in action will help you lengthen the life of your paintball gun.

1) Make sure you squeegee your paintball gun fully after every game. It still amazes me how much dirt and grime you can get down your barrel when you are jumping around the field like a lunatic. So it is always a good idea to squeegee to get rid of all of the dirt. Also make sure that if a paintball breaks in your barrel that you unscrew it fully and squeegee it from both ends, as drying lumps of paint in your barrel is never good for accuracy and performance.

2) If you play on a particularly wet day then it is a good idea to store your guns upright. This is to let all of the moisture rise out of the gun. If your guns components are made of metal, which most are, then a build up of moisture for a long time will greatly increase the speed of rusting in your gun, which is not good for your paintball markers health.

3) Make sure that you oil the hammer of your paintball marker after every game. The hammer is one of the most important parts of your paintball marker because of its function in pushing the paintball down the barrel at high speed. Most metal objects that are movable need to be lubricated regularly and the hammer is no different, which is why it is a good idea to apply oil after every game, to ensure everything runs smoothly for longer.

The life of a paintball marker will greatly depend on how well you look after it, so if you follow the tips in this article on how to maintain your paintball gun, and read the manufacturer guidelines that come with your marker, this should ensure you are not going to be buying another paintball gun anytime soon.

By: Oliver Anye

About the Author:
